How to EXERCISE the AMERICAN BULLY

American Bully Exercise

The American Bully is an easy dog to work with and exercise, but caution must be taken as with most dogs with heavier frames and large barrel chest there can be health problems if exercising is done incorrectly or if the dog is not given a brake.  One common cause of death in this breed is "Heat Stroke". So if you are in a hot environment make sure that you keep your bully hydrate while working out or on a dog walk.

We recommend that in order to build trust and respect American bully owners should fine time to walk their dogs.  This is also a great time for bully owners to educate other people about the breed. Walking is also a great way to socialize your bullies.  For Adults we recommend  1 or 2 hours of walks a day. For young growing dogs the best exercise is two 45 minute walks a day, a few games of fetch and mild rope play. After about 7 months old is when you can add new things into your Bullies life that will make exercise so much more fun and will keep your dog going back for more!

To BREED or Not to BREED?

As an American Bully owner i am very proud of owning one. It was not cheap when i got my dream Bully. I did not have tons of money so i really have to work a lot and save to get myself my dream BULLY. I got myself a female bully pup. The moment i had my pup I already have in my head a detailed plan on what will happen to her. A part of it was to breed her to the best STUD available here in the PHILIPPINES. At six months old she was betrothed. It took me 4 months of research, endless emails and tons of phone calls to close the deal. Before the deal was closed i have to make sure that my female was on her tip top shape. I needed to get a certification from a local vet that my female is free of disease. I needed to finish the UKC registration of my dog.  She was bred when she was on her second heat (1 year and 2 months) My wife and i could not believe it when we checked the bills that we payed for while my bully was carrying the puppies inside her. And when the puppies came out the dog food consumption in the house was tripled. The puppies got their complete vaccine before they left our house. After that breeding i came to conclusion that i need to check the following before proceeding to breeding my dog. Here are the questions you can ask yourself.

1. Health of the dog is top priority. Is he/she free of any disease? We do not want sick puppies.
2. Paper works of the dog. Is your bully UKC, ABKC registered? This will guarantee that you are not doing a shortcut to produce the looks of your bully. It will also help protect your name from scammers.
3. Do you have the means to support the breeding? Are you ready for all the bills? Do you even have a job to start with?
4. Are you contributing to the bully community with the result of your breeding? Your aim should be to improve the quality of the breed.
5. Is my family or kennel ready for a breeding?
6. Do i have time to take care of the puppies after birth? Are you ready to help the Dam in nursing the puppies?
7. Do i have all the information/knowledge in breeding? Remember "Knowing is half the battle!"
8. Set your goals before you breed.
9. Research of the bloodline?
10. Is there anyone you can consult if you have questions? I prefer an experienced Bully Breeder.

Local PITBULL HERO in the Philippines

Two women saves from Cobra by Chief the PitBull (barangay Lapasan Philippines)

The young children from the Frontera's residence refer to their dog as "KUYA" ("big brother"), and he undoubtedly proved it on the day he sacrificed his life to protect the family.

On Monday, February 12 at around 2PM, "Chief", an American Pit Bull Terrier, rescued Liberata la Victoria(87 years old), and her granddaughter Maria Victoria Fronteras from a poisonous cobra which had entered their home through an opening from the kitchen.

Liberata la Victoria and Chief were watching Television on a sofa when suddenly Chief jumped up and alerted her towards the presence of the cobra much less than 10 feet away. Maria Victoria rushed in and pulled her grandmother into a separate room, hoping the snake would leave.

But after Maria Victoria later emerged inside the room, she was terrified to discover the cobra poised about 2 feet away. Both equally startled, the cobra expanded its hood and appeared being spitting venom since it prepared to strike.

"The snake was in front of us, maneuvering a deadly attack," says Maria Victoria. "I screamed out loud to ask for help."

"out of nowhere", Chief dashed in between the cobra as well as the 2 women, utilizing himself as being a shield against the cobra's attacks. Chief then seized the cobra by the neck and slammed it to the floor, killing it.

But for Chief it was a Pyrrhic victory. During the struggle, he sustained a fatal bite on the jaw, and moments later he started out gasping for breath and collapsed.

The family members sought the aid of the veterinarian, but they had been told that absolutely nothing could possibly be done. In accordance with the veterinarian, the bite was too close to Chief's brain, and also the venom had already spread. Maria Victoria called her husband Marlon who, stunned by the news, rushed home immediately.

Ian de la Rama, a friend of the family, says it was much less than 30 minutes within the time Chief have been bitten that he "went wobbly and lost control of his organs," A couple of urinating and defecating uncontrollably. Yet he nevertheless kept clinging to life.

It wasn't until Marlon arrived that Chief finally let go.

Ian de la Rama describes, "Chief gave his 2 deep breaths and died. He was fighting and saving his last ounces of breath to see a glimpse of his master for the last 2 seconds of his life."

Ian adds how the last factor Chief did as he gazed up at Marlon was wag his tail.

Rest in PEACE  Chief.

MYTH vs. FACT about PIT BULLS

Myth:   Pit Bulls or Pit Bull type dogs are human aggressive by nature.

Fact:    Studies by the Center for Disease Control have proven that no one breed of dog is inherently viscous. The CDC supports the position that irresponsible owners, NOT breed, is the number one cause of dog bites. In my experience the breed is very loyal and caring to humans. I have been breeding this breed since 2009 and i have never experienced human aggression with my bullies.  At one time my PIT BULL gave birth. to my amazement SHE let my friend check the puppies without the growling and gave us full trust. In fact they have been good to my children.

Myth: Pit Bulls or Pit Bull type dogs have "LOCKING JAWS" (Locking Mechanism in their Jaws)

Fact:   The few studies which have been conducted of the structure of the skulls, mandibles and teeth of Pit Bulls show that, in proportion to their size, their jaw structure and thus its inferred functional morphology, is no different than that of any [other] breed of dog. There is absolutely not evidence for the existence of any kind of ’locking mechanism’ unique to the structure of the jaw and/or teeth of the American Pit Bull Terrier, says Dr. I. Lerh Brisbin of the University of Georgia (from the ADBA booklet, “Discover the American Pit Bull Terrier.)

Myth:   Pit Bulls or Pit Bull type dogs are inherently vicious.

Fact:     No more vicious than Golden Retrievers, Beagles, or other popular “family” dogs.  In a recent testing done by The American Canine Temperament Testing Society (ATT), pit bulls achieved a passing rate of 83.9%, passing 4th from the highest of 122 breeds. That’s better than Beagles, passing at 78.2 and Golden Retrievers passing at 83.2%.  The average passing rate for ALL breeds is 77%. While walking my bully one time we encountered another man was walking his dog (not a pit bull). The other dog just growled and attacked another person who was jogging, while my bully just walk past and even ignored the situation.

Myth:   Pit Bulls or Pit Bull type dogs are responsible for most fatal dog attacks.

Fact:     From 1965 – 2001, there have been at least 36 different breeds/types of dog that have been involved in a fatal attack in the United States. (This number rises to at least 52 breeds/types when surveying fatal attacks worldwide).

Dogs defend territory, they exhibit dominance and if allowed can become protective of their family.  All this behavior can be controlled by the owner and aggression is mainly an act of behavior. The American Pit Bull Terrier is clearly a useful member of society.  The breed was World War One Hero and it’s rated as having one of the best overall temperaments in the United States (A.T.T.S.).  Have you ever heard of a local pit bull who is a HERO. Check out the story of CHIEF local pitbull in the Philippines who saved his masters wife and daughter from a DEADLY COBRA. The breed is used for dog show competitions, therapy, service work, search and rescue, police work and companionship.  Man has domesticated dogs to the point they serve as companions, workers and even objects of beauty. Dogs will protect man, see for him, hunt for him and play.  One breed is not more inherently good or evil, vicious, harmful or helpful.  It is man who is responsible for the dog’s behavior, not the breed of dog.  Those passing breed bans fail to understand that a mis-trained Pit Bull can be replaced with another breed.  People determine whether dogs will be useful members of a community or a nuisance.  It is the people who allow their dogs to become dangerous and legislators must control and punish the people.”  Keep it BULLY!!!!!!!

Getting your first American Bully?

Responsibilities, get to know them!
Are you ready for tons of exercise, and are you ready to say no even if your loveable bully is giving you those tantalizing eyes. Do you have the resources to feed your dog.  Part of your responsibility is maintain the dogs good health. And it is your responsibility to socialize your bully with other people and dogs. And if you are ready to became the pack leader. Then go out there and find your monster.

Research!
You need a clear vision on the type of bully you want to take home. That is why i suggest you review the breed standard first. Go to the ABKC website. That would give you an idea of what to check when purchasing a bully pup. An example that i learned that i check when looking at puppies are the major faults, since i am into dog shows. An example that you should check on the bully  is the feet. There would be times where you will be offered with puppies with super easty westy feet. I feel sad for people who have tried to breed and do shortcuts with their bullies. And come up with unwanted physical conditions. Try to look up people who has been with the breed for awhile when you visit a kennel and check on their puppies for sale. Join bully communities online, such as forums dedicated to the American bullies. Warning! the bully pups you see online will tempt you in getting one right away. Again keep in mind the picture of the bully you want to own. Don't be fooled by those who say bully pups rush sale. For one thing the puppies might have some problems with their health. The same thing goes with adults being sold in a rush. Better ask the seller the reason why they are letting go of their adult bully. Some reasons might be the male stud can't produce puppies. Another thing that you need to research on is the cost of shipping if you are buying from abroad. Pictures can be deceiving sometimes. It would be better if you have friends that could check the puppy or bully in your behalf.

Reputable Breeder
There are a lot of American bully breeders out there. Be careful in choosing which one to buy from. I can not emphasize on this much, but there have been instances where buyers have already paid the whole amount and end up with  nothing. And the buyer gets an update from the breeder telling them the  pup died. And you will be offered to  wait for the next breeding or transfer it to another breeding they have and end up with lesser quality. That makes me sick thinking there are a lot of puppy milling out there. Just cant stop thinking about those pups that would endup in the hands of dog-fighters. Another thing that you need to check when purchasing a bully pup with your hard earned money is the  paper works. This should ensure you that you are getting the real deal. And when i say paper works the puppies got their health records updated by a veterinarian. And they are registered to a registry like UKC, ABKC or any local registry for the American Bully. That way you are guaranteed of the lineage of your bully pup. And when its time for you to breed your dog, you have in your hands a reference that would be a great tool to finding the right match for your bully. And produce the bully you would want to share with others. In short do  some background check with the breeder you are dealing with.

Now these dogs are not cheap. Piece of advice to you who wants to own one. Save up some money and buy the bully of your dreams. Don't try to haggle on the price. And end up not taking care of your dog, since you got it at a low price. It is not easy to maintain and breed dogs. Got to have some respect for those who has sacrificed a lot to promote the American Bully breed. And to those who are into this game a piece of advice be honest in all your dealings. If you don't it might bite back on yah!

Why an American Bully?

The first time i saw an american bully i fell inlove with its magnificent looks. Its intimidating looks that makes strangers feel they need to go the opposite way, not that i don't like to meet and mingle with other people. I just feel that these type of dog would drive away bad folks. When someone walks their bully a lot of time people focus on the dog that they ignore the owner, especially if the onwer is a big fat guy like me. It makes me feel macho. Hahahahahahahaha!  Here in the Philippines were the american bullies are still new, people still ask "is that a bulldog?" And when i get that question i take the opportunity to educate people about the breed, plus its creates opportunities creating friends. During one of the pet-expo's that we attended a lot of people asked to take their pictures with our bullies. I think the moment you walk out of your door with an american bully you get that instant celebrity status. :) On my first bully pup i always ask myself is he gonna grow and become the dog i want him to be. Some say if your bully pup has the right genes they will grow into the monster you want them to be. In my opinion the right genes, exercise and right diet makes a bully look  more bully. One of the joys that i got from owning this kind of dog is i get enough motivation to work out and keep myself healthy to keep up with my bullies. As the years gone by i learned that these type of dog like any other type of dog needs a lot of exercise, tons of exercise, discipline and love.

So if you think you have what it takes to own an american bully call me...hahahahahahahahaha

Keep it bully folks!!!!!!!!

Welcome American Bully Fans!!!!!!!!

Welcome to our niche in the Bully world. Notorious 360º bullies is dedicated in promoting the American Bully breed. The group has been around for 4 years. Just like any other American Bully enthusiasts we wanted to create our own kind of bully. We wanted our bullies to have the looks that would make a burglar think twice in even attempting to make plans in getting inside our properties. But at the same time  we also wanted our bullies to be friendly around our kids, families and friends. Another one of our aim is to produce show dogs that would really conform to the American Bully Kennel Club standards. In our four years we have come up with breeding's that we could be proud of. Produced our main stud out of it. We are very proud of "Victory Scar". We will tell you more about him later. One of the riddles that we have been trying to solve here in the Philippines is how in the heck did they come up with those supper short mugs, over sized heads, freaky chest,  and that thick bones that you can use to whack someone out. I guess we are still looking for that right formula in creating the ultimate bully. Again one of our goals is to produce a bully that would turn heads and make those chicas want to take pictures with our bullies. Overall we want to produce the ultimate companion dog. Patience is really teaching us the things we need to come up with the looks we are looking for. With this breed you will always want to improve.
